Aquaflight suspension liftedCASA Media Release - Thursday 9 November 2000
The suspension of a Cairns floatplane operator - Aquaflight Airways Pty Ltd - has today been lifted by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. CASA lifted the suspension after the operator agreed to a range of conditions being imposed on the company's Air Operators Certificate. The conditions ensure there will be substantial changes to the management of Aquaflight Airways. The conditions mean there will be a new ownership and organisational structure for the company and that it will be run safely by appropriately qualified and experienced personnel. CASA has also received written undertakings from the new directors of the company for the production of new operation's manuals. The conditions and change in management and ownership of the company satisfy CASA that safety concerns have been addressed. Aquaflight was originally suspended on 17 August 2000 for alleged breaches of the Civil Aviation Act, Civil Aviation Regulations and Civil Aviation Orders. The alleged breaches were found by CASA during an audit of the airline in early August. Aquaflight operates two floatplanes from Cairns - a DHC 2 (Beaver) and a DHC 3 (Otter).
