Missing plane found in wilderness Posted Wed Feb 2, 2005 7:41pm AEDT Four tourists and a pilot reported overdue on a flight in Tasmania's south-west wilderness have been found safe. A search began after Strahan Marine Radio received a mayday call early this afternoon. The Cessna 185 seaplane, belonging to Wilderness Air, was carrying four tourists from New South Wales. The plane was on a flight from Strahan to St Johns Falls when it developed engine trouble after takeoff, and put down immediately on the water. Australian Search and Rescue in Canberra began a search after a mayday call was received around 1:30pm. But a second Wilderness Air plane in the area found the the missing aircraft about an hour and a half later. All five on board were fine and were taken back to Strahan in the second plane.
